NEW NOW presents 65 of Europe’s emerging artists at a festival at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek, 9 – 13 September 2015

NEW NOW supports Europe’s emerging artists. It presents the work of those advancing from art academies towards their professional careers, and provides them with a framework for further development.

The annual NEW NOW festival showcases the work of 65 artists from all art disciplines, with works ranging from music and dance performances, photography, video, painting and film, to typography and sound installations. Themes explored in this year’s pieces include myth, language, space, identity, death, society, economics, food and gender.

During the five-day festival, the artists are invited to participate in a professional development programme consisting of coaching sessions, lectures and workshops. This is designed to encourage collaboration and future opportunities. The public, promoters, curators, cultural entrepreneurs and producers are invited to attend a full festival programme of exhibitions, film screenings, performances and talks.

NEW NOW 2015 will be held at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek from 9 – 13 September.

Previous editions of the festival went under the name of NEU/NOW and were held in Vilnius, Tallinn, Nantes, Porto, Amsterdam and Glasgow. The festival has returned to Amsterdam as NEW NOW, where it has found a permanent home.

NEW NOW is an initiative of ELIA – European League of Institutes of the Arts, an independent network organisation for Europe’s higher arts education.
